Educational Program “Octopus Society”

This is a performance, within the framework of the “Society of Octopus” Educational Program, which combines speech with music and movement. Through the experiential theater-pedagogical workshop that will follow the performance, children, teenagers and the troupe are immersed in a reflective journey to explore the socially imposed and personal stigma of each and every one of them. The ultimate goal is to ferment the perception that the change towards a world of inclusion is in our hands, in the hands of the children who make up the people of the future.

Summary

A story from back then. A story of now. The deeply human short story “Goutou Goupatou” by Alexandros Papadiamantis, written 100 years ago, talks to true stories of children and teenagers of the 21st century, listens to them and with humor tenderly winks at every person who feels “different”. How from the ends can we rebuild a new beginning?
A dive into the small universe of Manolius Tapoi, who was bullied by the market guys, mocked by the girls in the neighborhood, scared of the toddlers and babies. Intimidation and mockery mingle with tenderness and affection, strangeness and wonder. A story about otherness, disability, the Other and the self. The story of the small incidents of everyday violence and the big moments of friendship, trust and love. In a 6-member mixed troupe, actors with and without disabilities, transform, sing and tell the story of Manolius which is so similar to their own story…
